    Default Hi

I am looking to become a child minder, I am 19 and just finished college, and want to find out more information.

I did tourism in college, so I want to know if that also mattters?

    Thanks,
    Bailey

    Hi Baileys

    Lots of information here:

You have to do a local authority course before you can apply to Ofsted and be registered. it doesn't matter what you did before.

I did tourism at college (well as a 'minor' course option) and I can safely say it has never mattered at all.

Mind you, I did a level 3 in childcare last year, and that has yet to matter either.

Seriously, find out as much as you can about the actuality of being a CM and decide for yourself whether to go for it. And all the best if you do.

    Hi,
You're young and the world is your oyster! If you really want to be a CM then go for it and give it your all. However, if you're just toying with it then also consider other options too. Perhaps childcare within a medium or large setting would give you exposure to working with others and you could develop your skills and experience before starting your own business as a Childminder at a later point. Good luck!!
