Hi there, :)
I'm after some advice on home insurance. I am currently with Direct Line who will only cover up to 3 minded children plus they have removed my extended accidental damage cover from the policy. The policy is up for renewal soon [ end of July] and I'd like to change to a company who will provide me with appropriate cover. Any ideas?

I insure my contents with zurich and buildings with legal and general both are ok about my childminding.
Got a quote this year from homeminder who specialises in cover for members of NCMA but decided to stay put as not much difference quoted

I'm with Churchill, have been for years. They don't cover childminding on the accidental cover but they do me and the family. So in other words we can have a great drunken party and smash the house to pieces and claim!!!!! :laughing: But I can't claim if a mindee breaks something! :rolleyes:
To be honest though, in 15 years I haven't had anything that I would claim for broken, the house is safe for the mindees. The kind of thing that might get broken is well below the excess in value anyway so I wouldn't claim. I don't see it as a big problem.
Be cany with Churchill though, get a quote from someone like Confused.com and save it before you ring them, the online price is usually cheaper and they will honnor it over the phone. They know the number of mindees I have (roughly, it changes) and I have never been restricted!! I think I would only find I had a problem if I exceeded the number I was registered for.
I saved £300 on the renewal quote they sent me for Buildings and contents lsat November. They quoted approx £620 and I paid approx £300!!!:jump for joy:
Personally I wouldn't touch the NCMA Home/Motor Minder people with a barge pole. :eek:
I'm with Liverpool Victoria which don't limit mindee numbers and DO cover accidental damages.
I have home and annual travel with them and they paid out on a holiday we cancelled for genuine reasons even though we didn't strictly have all the evidence we needed. I would recommend them. I pay about £45/month but over 11 months I think (that's for both) but I'm in a London borough.
In fact, it went down last year.
I'll try the companies you've all mentioned. We're actually insured with the Abbey not Direct Line, my mistake.:blush:
