Good morning VE Day Friday
Have you got anything special planned for today for VE Day? Had I been working this week I’d have spent time with the children making flags, baking cakes, having picnics and listening to music from the era. I’m sure there would have been something going on at the library or the museum that we’d have gone to and the toddler group would have had a party.
As it is, we’re not really doing anything. My own children are all too old to want to wave flags and have afternoon tea and we don’t live in a neighbourhood where families will be in their front gardens having a socially distanced street party. I’ve realised this is probably why I love childminding - it gives me the opportunity to get involved in events I wouldn’t normally be part of :D
So today will be pretty much like any other for me. I’ll aim to get a few more jobs ticked off my to-do list this morning then I might sit in the garden this afternoon with a cup of tea and a slice of cake and think about my grandad, the only person I knew who’d fought in the war. Unfortunately he never talked about it, so I don’t have any of his stories to think about, but I will remember the happy times I spent with him when I was young.
Have good days everyone, whatever you’re doing, and stay safe :group hug:
