    Default DBS

    Hi there,

I'm after some info on keeping DBS up to date- do we have to renew our own and our assistants DBS every 3 years ?also I was advised to have my assistants sign some sort of declaration yearly to say they still have no criminal convictions
does anybody have anything like this in place?

    Thanks in advance x x

If you have a newer-DBS you will have the update service so no more to do than keep paying the annual update service fee.
If you have an older-DBS there was no update service then and no expiry date so nothing to do at all.
Assistant DBS is the same as above.

'Disqualification by Association' is the one you need to ask staff about:

I am on the old system, but I have heard you get 1 email to tell you to pay the update service renewal (it can not be done as an automatic Direct Debit payment or standing order)- miss that and they cancel your DBS and don't even inform you. Nice, eh?!

I hope someone on the new system can explain further.

I am on the new system and you can click the option of a yearly direct debit going out so your dbs will keep updated and if u wsh to cancel it u just go onto your dbs service page online and cancel it and there you can also change your contact details i.e address

    hope this helps
