accounts and expenses admin

How do people organise their expenses and accounts receipts etc? I'm rubbish at this side of it and am worried after my EYFS course on management!

Does anyone do it all online and bag up their reicpts etc? How do you account for mileage? Anyone use an old fashioned ledger book?

I use this book form Ncma:

It makes me write down everything every week. I number the reciepts as I enter them through the month and keep them in an envelope. I end up with 12 envelopes for the year that then get filed away with the Accounts book and Tax Return.

For mileage I have a small note book in the car and I jot down each time I do a journey. Don't forget trips to the bank, shops, supermarket for food etc. Then I enter it in the accounts book once a month.

I put receipts in 12 labelled envelopes like Ricky then write them into an 'expenses' list

I am stealing that simple but effective idea!! I have one folder bursting with various receipts and notes! lol

will streamline to this version, so simple!!
