Default any new policies/procedures out there?

I am just in the process of reviewing and updating my policies and procedures at the moment and have a list of 20 + policies from admissions, accidents, safeguarding etc through to extreme weather ones for sun or snow and i also have ones for things such as swine flu. i think my list is very OTT as i kept adding to it, so now i am having a cull but was wondering if any one has added any new or relevant policies in thr past 6 months?

The latest in surrey is a 'lost child at home policy'

Oh and if you have any puddles in the garden dont let the childen out in wellies to splash in them. NO you must drain them as they may be contminated with rats urine.

And you must Milton the sand in your sand pit.

No this is honestly what new mindes are being told in their training right now in our area.

Two of my friends are registering their daughters and they are keeping us in stitches at what they are coming out with.

And you must not give children plastic cutlery it must be metal. As plastic is demeaning for them

how do you drain a puddle - I don't have plugs in mine honestly! milton the sand - do they do this at the beach now - or are we not allowed to take children to the beach any more.

Wendy seriously they asked you to have a 'lost child at home' how on earth do you lose a child at home

the 'lost at home' thing is what i and a few minders have been asked about recently - just add a paragraph in your lost child policy - the inspector told me what they mean is if you have a stropping 7/8/9+ yr old who decideds to walk out of your home! what you would do etc as you may have other children in your care etc. i just added it in to a paragraph as an eventuality (ie, like if you're out n about, in a shopping centre).
    hope that makes sense.

For goodness sake!!! The world has gone mad!!! This is ridiculous...does it apply to nurseries as well as my grandson was splashing in a puddle in the playground this morning when I went to pick him up!!
