Default NCMA contracts - Urgent please

If I am with NCMA do I HAVE to use their contracts? I have an enquiry for a parent who's hours and days can change on a weekly basis so was wondering if I can put my own contract together.

My understanding is that you are not insured and cannot use their legal helplines unless you use their contracts.

I am sure someone more knowledgeable than me in the ways of the NCMA will be along soon

What is the difference? Why don't you use their contracts and write in the details that you want on your own in the additional information section or do an appendix. As long as both are signed you will be fine.

I guess I'll have to ring them tomorrow and find out for sure. I'll post when I get an answer and hopefully it will be of use to someone else.

Your post raised a question in my mind. Does anyone know that if you are with Morten michel you have to use their contracts too? Or is it just the possbility with NCMA because of all the other services they offer too?

    Many thanks

It's been my understanding that in order to be fully covered for their legal help and fully insured you have to use their contracts and you cannot use photocopies of their paperwork.... I do as Debs suggested above and attach my own additional comments in notes to the contracts and get them all signed. xx

What other services? Sorry I do not understand.

And no you do not have to use MM contracts but your contracts, if you are with MM, must be properly worded to be legally binding.

Sorry Sarah I wasn't entirely clear what I meant to say - I thought NCMA was a lot bigger than Morten Michel and offered a lot more to childminders as an organisation than Morten Michel - but when I think about it Morten Michel offer so much too!

Thank you for your answer anyway.

Morten Michel are a profit making Insurance Broker with no more interest in Childminders than any other customers but to sell as much insurance to them as they can to make a profit. They do produce paperwork for Childminders to use but I believe they do not insist you use it. However if there was a dispute you wanted them to help with your paperwork has to be properly formated and legally binding.

The National Childminding Association in a Charity which was started by a group of Childminders who thought Childminders deserverd a voice and to be recognised as the competent, professional people they are. They work for the good of Childminding, Lobbying Government, making comment on TV, Radio and in the Press when needed to promote the value of Quality Childcare. The also Provide insurance services geared to Childcarers and Paperwork.

If you have a dispute and need to use their Legal Team the generally expect copies of their completed Attendace Register signed in respect of the child, also copies of contracts which also have to be NCMA ones.

They are both a charity and a registered company. Registered charity number is 295981 and limited company number is 2060964. If ever you need them.

Smile Re: NCMA contracts - Urgent please

Hi, I used NCMA contracts for a parent whose hours change every week. She was able to provide we with a rota and highlighted the hours she required every week and I attached this to the contract and made a note in the additional notes section of the contract. Maybe your parent could send you an email with the hours or sign a letter and you can attach it and refer to it in the additonal notes section.
    Hope this helps.
