    Smile Birth Certificates

    Hiya,

Can anyone tell me whether we need to retain a copy of each mindees Birth Certificate? I am aware of another cm local to me who does this, I never have and can't see why we should! Is it a new thing?

    Please help.

I have never asked to see anything so personal.

    It's not an Ofsted requirement.

I suppose it might help if mum is not sure whether dad has legal responsibility or not... or to prove the child is real??

I dunno, I would if I was told I had to but otherwise no

its only a requirement if you are claiming nursery funding for the child.

I always ask to see ID for the child eg birth certificate or passport. I know we don't have to, but got caught out when parent asked me to sign mindees passport form, then thought, I don't actually know his full name is correct, I just took what Mum said was correct!
