    Default All about Me pack

    Hi
I am due to have my 'pre reg inspection' on Monday and I have created a "all about me" pack that I would give to parents to complete before their child joined my setting. In my pack I have the following:

    Name
    Date of Birth
    My Family
    My Pets

Then under 'Individual Needs' I have

    Food Allergies
    Particular dislikes
    Favourite fOOD
    What I like to drink

Can I dress myself i.e. put on coat, shoes
Can I manage zips, buttons, toggles
Do I have a nap during day. if so how long
Where do I prefer to sleep
    Confort toy, dummy

    Nappies, how often changed
Routine. if any, for nappy change
    Potty or toilet training
how does child indiciate they wish to use potty/toilet

Then I have a likes/dislike page which has headings

    toys
    activities
    stories/books
    songs/rhymes
    Games

Anything I am missing? I guess I need to put in about child general health perhaps?

    Thank You

You need to ask about children's starting points ... while remembering that many parents (not all, but many) haven't the first idea what the 6 areas of learning and development are...

So keep it based around what childrne's achievements are and how you can help parents to develop them...

You could also include what things frighten them (if any) and if they are upset what will comfort them.

It's something that's come up time and time again in inspection reports on the Ofsted website...

We have to find out about children's starting points from their parents... if we know what they are doing from the experts, then we can plan for their next steps.

You can find some ideas here -
