Permission to seek emergency treatment - do we need it or not.
As the title says, do we still need this. I thought not as it was no longer in the EYFS but was told today that it is an Ofsted requirement?

Don't know if it is a requirement or not am sure someone with more knowledge will come along shortly but I still have mine in place.

I asked my DO about this, she said that in all fairness for the sake of one piece of paper and a signature it is better to have it than not.

Yes... and no!
It is no longer a requirement of the EYFS to have a piece of paper saying 'permission to seek etc... ' like we used to have.
But we must have an emergency procedure - and as part of that you need to consider what you would do if you had to take a child to the hospital or for emergency treatment - and as part of that you will probably decide you need something signed by parents.

I've kept all mine on the grounds that if I shred them I'll probably need them!

Keep smiling!

I have kept mine however in a real emergency like life threatening or something the hospital professionals will override any permission form and do what they have to to help rhr child.
So is ut necessary? I still have mine as its part of the form from MM.

I still have in place a form signed by parents giving permission to seek emergency treatment is necessary...
Although I swayed over getting rid, I thought I better keep and cover my back just in case as my policy says I'll have permission slips in place...and tbh I think as a parent I'd be happier with it this way.

I have always thought it rather ridiculous having a form giving you permission to do something you would do anyway but now I am used to it I might as well keep it
