    Default Self Employed Nanny Contract

    Hi all,

I have just been offered a nannying position but the family would like me to be slef employed. I have checked with HMRC,NCMA and Ofsted (under the voluntary register) and they are both happy for me to do this however I was wondering if anyone else had been a self employed nanny before.

If so would you mind sending me a copy of your contract so that I can have a look at it, not sure how to present it. Or if anyone could let me know where I can see a sample one I would be very greatful.

    Thank you in advance,

    Hailee.

Hi Hailee congratulations on your new job. I worked as a nanny and the family wanted me to self employed, however when I looked into it more I thought it would be more beneficial for me to be employed by them. I spoke to the agency they contacted me through and the agency guided them to employ me. I can't find the info I found when I looked into it but here is a link to a site that says a bit about when a nanny should be employed or self employed... http://www.taxnanny.co.uk/nanny_employer.htm

Why do they want you to be self employed? They may think it is easier if they don't have to give you the rights of an employee however it would be in their favour to be able to completely decide what they want you to do/when to have you to themselves etc. Also good for you for things like paid holiday, sick pay etc. Nanny wages are generally decided on and quoted as an after tax deductions number and so be careful if they are sounding like they are giving you an average salary as you will then need to take tax off that - therefore the figure they should be giving you should be 20% higher than your local average (roughly).

I'm currently wondering if i should advertise i can nanny too as i've seen more parents this way mention nannies on their profiles than childminders. I just aren't sure whats expected of a nanny and how Ofsted apply to that position.
    Currently not minding
