What to put in a parent pack?

Hi All
I've noticed a few of you mention parent packs, that you give to parents to take away and look at before they decide to sign contracts etc.

I like that idea...but what kind of things do you put in them?

I've finally got my registration certificate and insurance etc, so now its just that scary leap of faith into the world of childminding!

In a parent pack or a brochure you put in a brief overview of yourself (and family if you wish), your setting - include a few pix if you wanted. Errm blimey not really sure what else - just stuff about your childminding service - hours - what you want to get across to parents that you want them to consider when they get home. (My brain is not firing on all cylinders this morning sorry)

I have a copy of policy & procedures, fees, business cards

Aaah you see I give the P&P's once they have signed the contract - too much paperwork to loose! They can read through the P&P's here before hand.

I have about 30 policies...do you give parents copies of ALL of them once they've signed the contracts?
I was planning on getting them to read them at my house, signing a list to say that they've read them and that's it!

May need to rethink then....

I personally give them a full whack copy and ask them to sign saying they have received, read and understood them and that they form part of my working practices and contract. When I update one I give them a copy to replace whichever bit and ask them to sign for it.

I do this so that they can have a good read so hopefully they know what i'm providing & expecting them to provide etc & fully understand MY fees!

My welcome parent pack is based on the one the local nursery send and includes:

A brief bit about me and my family
My Philosphy and Aims
Themes and Mini-toipcs
Activities I do related to the EYFS
A Sample day's activities
A Sample Menu
A brief bit about before/after school care
Fees and Charges
Hours of business
General Info - nappies/toilet training; school pick ups; observations; complaints procedure; meals and snacks; outings; daily routines; suitable clothing; permission slips; policies and procedures; settling in sessions
How to contact me - phone number, website address and email address.

I also do a folded leaflet that just briefly lists about me and my childminding service. They have coipes at the nursery and a few other places to hand out to parents who enquire about a childminder.

You have all helped me out too because I haven't yet completed my pack I am getting round to it, with all the other paperword that is creating a montage on the living room floor!

I do the same. Once they have read the policies, I ask them to sign a form stating they understand them. I simply cannot afford to print out untold amount of polices to then put them in an A4 hardback folder for the parent to no doubt, stick in a cupboard. Too expensive. I do give them a brief summary sheet with some information on to take home.
