    Default P L Insurance Question

    Hi Everyone,

    I know this my sound daft, but just going to ask anyway, is it a must that you have public liability insurance , I read somewhere that the insurance is just for under 5's is this correct?

    Its always a very good idea to hold some sort insurance when you are offering a service of any kind.

    heaven forbid something happened and the pants were sued of you.

    Yes you must have insurance either with Morton Michel or via NCMA to work as a childminder.

    If you do not have insurance you are working illegally.

    It is stated in the statutory requirements of the Eyfs under the ratios section -

    The provider must carry public liability insurance for the provision.

    It is a legal requirement that we have PL insurance. Refer to page 35 of the welfare requirements under specific legal requirements

    The provider must carry public liability insurace for the provision

    This isn't a question I think you should be asking - what about

    "what happens if I don't have PL?"

    If there was an incident and you were sued you could potentially lose everything you have, your business, your car, your house.

    Now do you think you need it?
