Default PACEY and their view on agencies

Why PACEY is not involved in the development of childminder agency models?

DfE plans to pilot or test childminding agency models that are already underway. PACEY has decided not
to actively support this piloting because it believes agencies are likely to damage childminding’s hard
won reputation and future sustainability. PACEY does not want to lend its name and credibility to
these pilots, given how strongly members have rejected them (evidenced in research published in
    PACEY’s Individual Inspection Matters campaign).

Our focus will remain on supporting individual childminders to sustain their childcare businesses
and delivery high standards of care and learning. We will also be working in partnership with the
policy think‐tank Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) to investigate the impact that the agency
model and other these other proposals will have on the quality and sustainability of childminding in the future.
This report will be published in June and again members’ views will be sought to help inform its development.

The ncma statement was released a while back and most are aware of it
I believe that many cms agree with ncma refusing to develop or input expertise into the agency model but we also question why ncma could not have chosen to be an 'observer' and 'listener' at the task and finish group meetings with the DfE like other representatives are such as PLA and ******* are

These associations are gaining insightful knowledge on the development of agencies and, as a result, able to act on that in their representation of their independent cms members

The IPPR research will result in what we already feel will happen...a two tier of cms, confusion to parents, added expenses to cms and doubts on the accountability and expertise of those running agencies
In the meantime those cms wishing to remain independent are still in the dark as how to operate and plan for September 2013...just 3 months away now!

I suspect the opposition is probably because Pacey/NCMA are annoyed they didn't think of the agency idea themselves
