Do inspections seem to be getting harder and harder or is it just me? I registered when it was social services life wasn’t so complicated then. I do think this is why there is a lack of childminders.we are short of childminders in my area they are either closing or we aren’t getting new ones.

It does feel as if we have more and more hoops to jump through, and that if a child isn't reaching the set target, or there are any other concerns, that it is all down to us, irrespective of whether the child attends 3 hours or 33 hours a week.

I have reached the point where I do what I can and offer the children ( and families ) what support I can, but that's it. If families are not interested then I've done my part. And as for inspection ... I am concerned as I'm due this academic year, but I'm not changing anything and if it's not good enough, then I'm not jumping through hoops to please someone who saw a snapshot of the day.

I had my inspection a couple months ago so just missed the new framework phew but it was bad enough ! I do my best for the children and parents and that’s all you can do.when it was social services you had the same person come to see you so they got used to you and got to know your ways/ character. An inspection from Ofsted lasts3-4 hours the person has just met you and your grade is based on them hours.

    Quite agree.

I had to speak to Ofsted a few months ago and for various reasons spoke to 2 different inspectors ... who both told me totally different outcomes for the same scenario.

Does anyone know if the same inspector can inspect you again? My last one totally 'got' childminding and how it is different to a nursery and another expected a nursery setting not a home! However ... it was a while back!

I've read several posts - presumably on here and fb - where people have had the same inspector. From memory it has been where people have had the opposite experience to you - they want to change their inspector as they didn't 'click' in the last inspection. For some reason I'm thinking it must be more common in rural areas to get the same inspector.
