Default What questions on EYFS do inspectors ask

    Hi,

Got my first inspection tomorrow. What are they likely to ask me about EYFS? I feel it is my weakest point, not had any training so just kind of winging it with the obs I do and then linking it to the 6 areas of learning.

    Any pointers?

    Thanks

    Bex xx

You should have a document 'Preparing for your registration inspection'.

It goes through all the questions and suggests you look up answers so you are prepared for the inspector calling.

There is a copy in free downloads at the top of the forum and on the Ofsted website.

    Good luck!

I've had the registration inspection, this is my first grading inspection. Will they ask similar question as they did for the registration?

Ahhh! I see! They will expect you to be using the Eyfs in your day-to-day practice.

You will need to show evidence that you are meeting all the statutory requirements ... and it is recommended that you meet the guidance requirements as well.

You will need a good working knowledge of the themes and commitments.

Each child should have a file with contracts, permissions etc and a file which shows their learning journey with observations, notes from parents, links to Eyfs etc etc.

    Good luck!

Right ok, I've got all that. Just wondered if they asked anything specific. Do I need to know it all off by heart? I'll be a blabbering wreck and get it all wrong anyway.

Be glad when it's over. x

You need to know your safeguarding procedure and how to protect / safeguard children inside out and backwards so read up on that.

    You'll be fine!

I've been asked questions on safeguarding at both of my last two inspections.

If you know the name of your inspector you could go on the Ofsted website, put in your own postcode and then scan through a few reports - this will give you some ideas of the recommendations they are giving out.

Good luck - let us know how you get on

    Hope your inspection went well.

I didn't see this yesterday when it was posted.

My inspector asked me to explain the EYFS to her as if she were a parent.

Do you mean your pre-registration visit to become a childminder?, or are you already registered and awaiting your first graded inspection?
