    Default Ofsted inspection

    Hello,

I am having my first inspection next week. Tuesday is pancake day, so I was thinking to do some pancakes with the children for the observation. The children are between 1 and 2 years old. I wanted to ask if you think the activity would be appropriate, not the bit where we mix the ingredients, but the bit where we put the batter in the pan. Also any advice/suggestions for the inspection, will be very much appreciated.

    Thank you all in advance.

That sounds like a good idea! It's usually best to do something the children are used to though ... keep them in their comfort zone when Ofsted are there!

    I hope it goes well

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you so much for your reply. I will be doing Carnaval masks instead. We have been working on animals ans this week we made animal masks... So just going to carry on with the theme
It is Carnaval where I'm from, so will put some music on the background and also do some dressing up.
Thank you for the advice. I just hope I got everything I need.

    Kind regards

    Sofia

Hot pan and 1-2 year olds may not go to plan🙈. I would say keep things simple with Ofsted. If you want to do pancake theme you could get them to put toppings on ready made pancakes or do pancake flipping competition. The simpler the better. Definitely wouldn't be too adventurous with new activities on inspection day.

Yep, i have no inspection experience but i would have thought you may be best off doing something you do regularly perhaps. Could be a "recipe" for disaster ;-0
Good luck with whatever you choose though, let us know how it goes :-) x

Keep it simple. Activities that you've already done and use the opportunity to extend their learning. Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

I would make pretend pancakes with playdough - sing the pancake song whilst pretending to mix and stir, let them try to toss and catch playdough pancakes in small or role play frying pans.

    (Song something like this)

Mix a pancake, stir a pancake, pop it in the pan
Fry a pancake, toss a pancake, catch it if you can

    Good luck
