Home child carer inspections??

Hi All

I wonder if you an help me. I am a registered childminder but I am currently on maternity leave. I stopped working in Jul 2015 to start mat leave.

I have been approached and asked if I would consider being a home child carer, which to be honest would be great for me at the moment.
I've contacted Ofsted and been told that I can keep my registration for 3 years without losing it but because i'm on all three registers I can work as a registered home care provider.

I just wondered if home child care provider are inspected? The family have said that they're not worried about me being registered (they know me as a cm) and don't really want Ofsted 'nosing around' their home.

is that the same as being a nanny?

I used to know several Ofsted registered nannies (they were registered with Ofsted so the parents could use tax free vouchers etc) they were told that they 'may' be inspected by Ofsted, but I never knew any that were!

Yes it is the same as being a nanny. The guy at Ofsted said that because I'm on all three registers I can work as a registered home child carer (nanny).

Hmm that's interesting, I wonder if they ever were. I'm not bothered either way but I would imagine it's up to the family to say who hey do / dont want in their home?

Some nannies are inspected but not many... I think they do a percentage
