    Default Inspections how oftern?

I've spoke to my coordinator today to check if it is 3 years or 4 years you are due for an inspection. She told me as I was last inspected under the previous EYFS, I'm now due for another inspection along the new EYFS anytime now until 2015.
This has made me panic a little as I'm not straight and ship shape. I had our 3rd baby last march, no maternity leave, straight back to work. My hubby works with me so not to bad, but things have got a little forgotten about. The children are all cared for and fed and watered lol. Lj are updated but lord only knows what's in the depths of the filling cabinet. And as for a sef, I haven't even started one. So got a lot to do (just incase)
I've applied to do the early years degree which starts October so want everything ship shape before then.......

But how long is it normally between inspections? :-)

As it is at the minute no one knows. All that's for certain the cycle is running from sept 2012 to august 2016. So you will be inspected during this cycle but no one can tell you when

I think it varies considerably - my last inspection was January after the first EYFS so I'm due to be inspected under the revised EYFS - I was ready 6 months ago but have let things slide again - need to get on it before I get a big surprise!

My last inspection was a year and three months overdue...and that only happened cos the inspector was just 'in the area' and had a free day...

I was told today that if you've not been inspected in the new EYFS, then you will be by 2015. But they are starting with satisfactory provisions and those where complaints are coming in. So I'm ok as I'm a good, but just worried that I'm not ready.
So do we not know what the new cycle is under the new EYFS? Think I'm just going to have to get prepared and try and stay prepared (ish) so less last minute panicking

The new cycle is sept 2012 to aug 2016.

I think talking to people who have been inspected there is no reasoning to who they are inspecting at the min its when the computer picks your name. The best thing is to work like they are coming tomorrow

Good advice. Don't feel right knowing I'm not on top of things anyway, so a great excuse to put in some extra work and then will feel better. Thanks :-)

Inspections are random! Best to be prepared!
SEF's are not compulsory-so don't worry, but self evaluation is, so however you do it-make sure you do!
I am to be in inspected early sept, and that will be almost 5 years since the last one-I was only the second in my county to be inspected under the first EYFS so was very nervous-no better this time as I've heard of so many bad inspections. 18 years of childcare and I'm still terrified!

All providers will be inspected...at least once in the present cycle which started in Sept 2012 (under the revised EYFS 2102) and ends 31 July 2016

My LA sent this email to all providers reminding us of this

    ''Changes to Ofsted Inspections:

As you may already know Ofsted plan to inspect all provision at least once within their inspection cycle. The next inspection cycle will end on 31 July 2016. Newly registered providers will be inspected about six to seven months after registration. Please refer to the document ‘Are you ready for your inspection’.

Ref: 12085. Ofsted | Are you ready for your inspection? A guide to inspections of provision on Ofsted's Childcare and Early Years Registers. Point 13 explains how Ofsted prioritises inspections
