    Default Help!

I am so cross right now. Was supposed to be inspected today, original officer went on sick leave last week and so a new officer was assigned. She was supposed to come today never turned up but had said she possibly would come tomorrow instead so I didn't worry. She has just called to say she isn't coming this week at all now and doesn't know when she will come and may pass me to a third inspector!!!!

Who do I complain too? So much stress for my first inspection and prep work, and now my only settled mindee is probably not going to be here for the inspection as he is off for next 2 weeks so I may get a lesser grade as others learning journals are nearly empty seeing as he has only been here a week!!! Arrrrrrrr

Don't really think you would have a valid complaint - it is unfortunate but it can't be helped if people go off sick. You can still show the learning journey of your settled mindee even if they are not there on the day.

I know they only usually look at the LJ's of children present on that day - but maybe you can slip into the conversation "this child hasn't been with me long, so the LJ looks a little thin, but this is an example of what it would look like in a few months time" and plonk it on her lap!

The second one didn't go sick, she simply said I 'won't have time to do yours now' was quite rude. Then had a go because I don't work every day and so I am awkward, apparently part time childminders are a real pain to her!

If you only have one mindee they probably won't come out and see you unless they are in situ as it is harder to grade you. I know you are annoyed and with good reason but ask yourself how will it benefit you? It could be the 2nd inspector has been given a huge workload of her own plus extras to cover holiday/sickness.

Re the complaint I would just phone Ofsted and ask the question if you decide you want to go ahead with it.

Nice ! I'd be glad she wasn't coming if that was her attitude on the phone!

I know it must be annoying but I don't think complaining at this stage will help you (just anger the inspector). We must be ready for an inspection at any time so by Ofsted's opinion you have now been given more notice than necessary. Just try to do as many observations as you can on the other lo in the next few weeks. To be honest I would be glad that she hadn't come, if she is over worked and stressed she may not be fair on her grading.

Just look on it as more time to get ready. But wrote down everything that was said to you. Just hope I Spector number 2 doesn't come to you. I would not complain just leave it as you don't want to annoy them.

They do come out if you have one mindee, I only had one on my inspection and was quite relieved tbh because it was nice and quiet ;-) god knows what OFSTED would think to my mad house today. 2 hours to go...

Just tell them that you dont want to be inspected while your long term mindee is on holiday. That they have messed you about so now they can fit in with you.

It does not hurt to be a bit blunt with Ofsted, i have refused to have two inspectors before and also one who i complained about.
