    Default Feedback on todays inspection

    Hi all,

    Here's how today went.
She arrived about 9.20am and came in. She had her ID open as she walked in so I didn't need to ask for it. I got her to sign my visitors book.
She sat down in the lounge with me and I offered her a drink but she don't have one.

My only mindee today was a 12 month old. He was asleep on the settee when Mrs O arrived. She asked if it was usually where he slept but seemed fine when I said its just because we had just got back from the school run. He would usually be in the travel cot upstairs.

She then just sat and chatted for a while, she managed to pack a lot of questions in while making it feel like we were just talking.

Little one has developmental delay and so she didn't do any focused observations with me, just got me to talk a lot about him and what stage he was at and how I planned for him.

I got a bit tongue tied at various points but she was lovely and just put it in a different way.

She asked about safeguarding but only very briefly.

She asked me about self evaluation a lot which was the only recommendation I got.

She asked about equality and diversity as I haven't got a lot of resources for these. I talked her through how I would talk to the children about this and how I didn't see the point of buying things just to please Ofsted when it wouldn't benefit the little one I have at the moment. Obviously I said to her that when I have slightly older children I would get some new resources to enable this.

She had a look around the house. She argued with me vaguely about not having the fire blanket up( I have got one but as its not a requirement now I haven't got it up as I would just get the kids and me out) and not using safety covers on my sockets( but was fine when I showed her the fatally flawed research)

She asked me how I would teach children to be independent , how I would help them to keep themselves safe.

She was very friendly and relaxed and have me a good in all areas. Looking forward to receiving my report now ! If I think of anything else I'll pop back and add it on.

Thanks to everyone on here as its such a great forum. And also to Sarah! Your ebooks have helped so much!!!

Well done and thanks for feedback - I am getting worried that the last few inspections that have been mentioned on here seem to have had "human" Ofsted inspectors - have they all been on a training course or is it the calm before the "Agency" storm?

Well done! Glad you had a 'normal' inspector

I'm overdue my first graded inspection by six months, just wish they'd crack on and do it!

It used to be a requirement to have a fire extinguisher as well as a fire blanket, but as childminders were advised not to bother to try to put out any fire the extinguisher is no longer required. However a fire blanket's main use is in case a person catches fire, so is still best kept in an accessible place in the kitchen.
