    Default Oh no........

    ....i've had the call.

The lady sounded very nice, will be coming sometime next week and asked if there anything I needed to ask her before she came.

Now going to have to sort everything out, get my photos printed and put in the scrap book and go through the stuff that the ncma have recently sent me about my first inspection.

Can anyone tell me what they do while here and how long they stay?

I generally only have a 13month old so dont really plan anything as such for the week, just do it on an ad hoc basis depending on her mood and the weather. My before and after schoolers tend to watch tv while waiting to go to school and play out when back from school, though if weather bad enough to stay in we find activities to do.

Oh i worried now......I have done a letter to give to the parents asking them for any feedback to hand to the inspector and that they will receive a copy of report as soon as I get it, just hope the 'nasty' parent that I have given notice to doesnt cause me too much bother!

She won't be expecting to see formal planning for the baby - just ideas of activity ideas and how you follow her interests and schemas...

With the older children, you can show how you plan to complement what they do in other settings...

Lucky you having a week to sort it all out! If you have any panics just ask!

    Good luck!

I got the call last Friday. So I know how you feel!!!!!!!! I got a date out of her so can prepare the night before! I also look after a 11 month old and dont do any formal planning or observations. I have taken pictures to show the inspector what sort of things we do to prove I have ideas etc. I will also tell her verbally what we do and why. Just make sure you have something ready for each day of the week she is coming. Make sure it is something that is creative for the little one and will take up enough time to keep you both busy!!!!!!!! Messy play is good because it keeps you really busy and theres no time for any awkward quiet times etc!

    Good luck.x

    Talking Re: Oh no........

I had mine about a month ago. She stayed for an hour and a half and sat at the table tip tapping away on her lap top. Every now and then she would ask me questions about child protection, planning etc.

I had a 3 yr old and we did play doh after lunch and that went well. We also had a cd on of children's songs and she noted in my inspection report about us acting out washing our hands and faces etc to Round the Mulberry Bush. Might be worth doing!!!

She marked me down ie made a small recommendation that i get the older ones to help out with the planning of activities. (Its just my sons friend i have after school and they either play PS2 or in the garden - not much to plan for that!!). But she said something along the lines of folding/marking an a4 piece of paper in 4. Allowing the children to write (or draw if cannot write) what they plan to do, what they need to do it, how it went and what they would do different next time in the 4 boxes. It might be worth you get your after schoolers to do something like this to put in your folder somewhere.

    And good luck.

Helenlc, that's a good idea about getting the older ones to do their own planning, might pinch that!
