    hi all new to cm and i im just doing my first Observation on a 3 year old
    it was so sweet that a had to take a photo just need a little help with it
    were we at the school picking up older child and the 3 year old was picking some leaves of the tree brought them back to me and told hold of her sis hand only 18m and took her to the tree and started to talk to her about the leaves and helping her to pick some leaves
    i am relly not sure how to put this in a Observation

    Awww what a sweetie that's lovely.

    Well... she is learning about the environment and changes to the seasons which links to KUW.

    She is also developing her caring, sharing side which links to PSED.

    If you print a copy of the development matters notes for the child's age and stage you will be able to spot links to the Eyfs a lot easier.

    When I write up an observation , I simply say exactly what happened!

    I use initials to refer to another child if needed , and keep the description fairly brief as it is usually the photo which says much more anyway!

    Then I look at the developmental links for the age of the child and see what is relevant as Sarah suggested , and sometimes put a follow up suggestion or next steps on but not always.

    I dont use preprinted obs sheets as sometimes I have lots to say about a particular area and other times not much at all!
