    Default Thanksgiving

This week we are doing Thanksgiving.

I have a tree with the childrens hand cut outs stuck on with things they are thankful for.

Plus I have taught the children how to do Thank you in sign language they were very impressed.

Also reading books on Please and Thank you.

Too early for me to be doing xmas start next week

    Carol

    Those are lovely ideas Carol...

We have been thinking about being thankful today with the older children.

We made hand prints the other day and today I wrote their thank you message on their hand.

I will take photos and send them home when they are finished.

Thanksgiving is also a good time to introduce some Native American drumming music, make feathered headdresses and beaded necklaces (coloured pasta).

For the pasta, put dry penne pasta in a plasic ziplock bag. Squirt some surgical spirit in the bag (just a bit), seal and then shake to coat pasta. Next, add some food colouring (blue and green are good as Native Americans make a lot of turquoise jewelry - also some red for traditional colours). squidge colouring aorund the pasta til it reaches desired colo9ured then drain away excess liquid and let it dry on a baking tray. Then just string it with wool or twine.

You can also make Navajo Fry Bread - http://whatscookingamerica.net/Histo...joFryBread.htm.

And my personal favourite, wich I use all the time -the Talking Stick. I use one in my childminding setting and am creating one this week at pre-school with the kids to use there, as well. - http://www.acaciart.com/stories/archive6.html

Photo of DD 3 years ago with her headdress.

Why is "phonics" not spelled the way it sounds?
