    Default Residential school trip

For those of you who have had sons go on residential trips during years 5 and 6, do any of them take teddy bears?

As someone who spent 30 years taking children on residential trips I can say that they do.
To avoid any issues though I always put it on the kit list to take and I took a teddy too.....so it was expected that everyone would have something.
These were great then for throwing around the dorm when lights out time came!!

If you think it might be an issue chat to the teacher leading the trip and see what usually happens on their school trip and how she/ he could encourage everyone to think positively about benefits of having something to cuddle when you are in a strange bed and possibly away from home for the first time.

Thank you flora We are moving and will only have arrived at the new school 2 weeks before a residential trip. So my son won't really know anyone, has never spent the night away from me, and sleeps with a gazillion snugglies. Oddly enough the teddy bear thing was the biggest panic, even more than the knowing no one, cos I know the teachers will treat him well being the new kid, but to do it without a teddy would be unbearable for him and me.

    Thank you xx

DS took his muslin away with him on residential school trip at Easter - He was a couple of weeks off turning 14. He was sharing a room with 3 other boys - only one of them didn't have something to cuddle/comfort!

DD (11) has gone away on a residential today ... she took a couple with her, as did all her friends, ( and I heard that a lot of the boys did too ( whilst chatting to other mums about how much stuff their children had packed )

DD2 took her #2 'teddy', which happens to be a toy Lemur. She won't take her favorite to camp as she's afraid that it will be pinched!

Yes both mine did when they went as FloraDora says it was on the kit list so no child felt like they couldn't.
When someone tells you nothing is impossible, tell them to go slam a revolving door

    I love this thread!

How lovely of all those teachers in all the different schools putting it on the lists of things to take!
