    Default Buying house

We found a house we liked the other week, the asking price was reasonable so we put in an offer for the full asking price. We want to move quickly. The seller came back and told us he wanted 10k more than the asking price. Obviously we have walked away from that one.
This weekend we found another awesomely perfect house (way better than the other one). We really want it. They are desperate to sell because they have found a bungalow they want to go to, they are very elderly and really need to be gone. The house is well worth the asking price, but we now don't know what to do.
Do we offer the asking price and hope they don't decide they want more, or do we offer them less? I don't want to do them out of money for their retirement, I don't want to mess them around, and we like the asking price. But I really don't want to have them come back and demand 10k more.

Help, what do we offer. The asking price is more than fair.

    .... oooh tricky one.

I would perhaps say that you really like the house and therefore, you are not going to mess them around, but go straight in with your best offer ( asking price? ) and that you can do no more than that. Is there an estate agent involved?

( I've obviously watched too much phil & kirsty on 'location location' !!! )

    good luck.

    ( although I don't want you to move! )

    xxx

We went 5k under, which I feel crappy about, but 5k over what everyone else was telling us to go for, so feel slightly less crappy about that

Congratulations! Fantastic news. Don't feel bad, I don't think people expect to get the asking price.

Do you know if the other house has been sold yet? x

What, the one we first offered on? No it is still on the market. Trying not to be bitter and say long may it stay there, but am very tempted lol.
