I have no baking planned which is quite unusual.
Still trying to master doughnuts if anyone does have a tried and tested recipe
When someone tells you nothing is impossible, tell them to go slam a revolving door

i've never tried fried doughnuts. I did have a silicone doughnut tray thing, and you made a cakey/batter that you poured in, but I never liked them. I was telling a friend the other day, and she sent me this recipe - she says its great - she makes them like jammy doughnuts, but without the jam! but I haven't tried it, but also, as I cook in an aga, its always an experiment !!! good luck!
Yield
36 doughnuts
Units
US 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, softened
1 1⁄2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 cups flour
4 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1⁄2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup milk
1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
Blend 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter with 1 cup of sugar.
Add the eggs and mix well.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
Add to the butter and sugar mixture.
Blend in the milk and mix together thoroughly.
Fill greased muffin tins 2/3 full.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, or until doughnuts are golden.
Combine remaining 1/2 cup of sugar with the cinnamon.
Melt remaining 6 tablespoons of butter.
While doughnuts are still warm, roll them in melted butter; then in cinnamon sugar.

Saturday, went shopping. Weather: fine.
Sunday: went to car boot sale; painted the shed. Weather: fine.
Monday: wanted to catch up on the allotment. Weather: piddling it down.
Have started to update my SEF instead. On page 14 and still not completed the introduction, The b45t4rd5 are going to downgrade me anyway (it's what happens when you believe in the right to a childhood and meeting the needs of real families), but they're sure as h3ll going to have to read their little eyeballs out first.

Friday - went to Hampton Court Palace with DD and DH. Had a fabulous time. DH had some vouchers from one of his club cards so it cost us nothing.
Saturday, not much but went for a run and am still aching. Made a stash of blueberry pancakes for the freezer for breakfasts on rushed school mornings.
Sunday - first day of geocaching, loved it.
Today - raining hard all day until about an hour ago. I went for a lovely walk - by myself as DH and DD were being lazy. I love walking in the drizzle. It seemed like the world and his wife had seized the opportunity to go for a walk during that hour.
We definitely have some Autumn leaves appearing here and there...
Loving the fact that our grumpy downstairs neighbours are still on holiday, so shortly we'll pump some music and DH will make dinner while I bake some more healthyish goodies for breakfasts/after school snacks.
Hope The Railway Children was good - I was just looking at a flyer for that show the other day and would love to see it.
