Default learning journals for five year olds

Hi, may have a child who will turn five in july starting just in school holidays. Do I still need to do a learning journal, observations etc or can I just do a scrap book and photographs like I do for my older children.

By law you have to do observations, assessments and individual planning until a child starts in year 1 at school (end of August).

However you can present this in any way you think appropriate for the child.

If the child would like to make a scrap book then fine... if the child wants to contribute to a more formal learning journey booklet then great.

Talk it over with the child and child's family and come up with a format you are all happy with.

Yes! I've wondered the same thing!
I have a 5 year old due to start just for school holidays too and was wandering if I need to do any framework with him as the EYFS only goes upto 60 months (5 years.)
Could anyone help me with this please?

    Welcome to the forum Sally!

I think I have answered your question in my reply above as well... just complete whatever seems right for the child, linked to the Eyfs until the child starts year 1.

The EYFS covers until the 31 August following the child's fifth birthday so yes you still need to follow it but how much you do should be proportionate to the amount of time the child spends with you.
