Default My learning and development document

    Hello

Where can I find the document 'My learning and development'? It is basically a copy of the Development matters that you can use to highlight a childs stsrting points and new development.

    Thank you

if you look at the pale pink tabs at the top, there is one called 'free downloads'.

this has lots of interesting & useful downloads.

it has been recommended to use the 'early years outcomes' now, as they are the latest guidelines from DofE

    Early Years Outcomes

this is a useful guide to the 7 areas of learning

    7 areas of learning

and this is a good guide to the characteristics of effective learning

    good luck x

In Somerset we were given a link to the local authority website where you can download Personal Pathways which is basically the First column of Development matters with space beside to write up observations and stick (very small) photos, it may be useful to ask your Development Officer (if you still have any in your county!) whether they have anything similar.

The only problem in Somerset is that I can't work out how to choose between them. One is 56 pages long, one is 38 and one is 12. And I have a rubbish printer so I'm wondering if it would make more sense to go with the shortest, but apparently most people find the 38pg one the most helpful. Hector's house, can I ask which you use and why?

    Thanks

I feel we are giving the wrong information about DM and EYO ...
There is absolutely NO recommendation to use either DM or EYO ...we can use either of them...both are non statutory and both our choice

What has changed is that inspectors must now judge us by EYO but how we achieve the outcomes and which document we use is entirely our choice

I know that the forum is recommending EYO but that should be a recommendation only...the choice is ours.

The whole sector is still using DM... I attended a training were DM were used the whole session...my LA and many others say we can use either, so I feel we must not confuse CMs

I did write to Ofsted on this matter and posted their reply here...their answer: neither DM or EYO is statutory

Teacakepenguin...DM helps you to plan from the Unique child point including Enabling Environments and Positive Relationships so that these 2 enhance your planning and make it effective

EYO is the end result...what you want your children to achieve...by using DM cms are able to plan effectively and then check EYO to see the child has achieved the goal!

I printed off the Early Years Outcome document and if you go to properties on the printer you can change to 4 pages to a page and that cuts the printing right down....
