Linking with pre-school

Hi, just wondering what others do to establish a two way link with a pre school that you won't be taking/collecting from yourself. I have got a notebook that 'mum' is happy to hand to the key person each time, but not really too sure what to write in it as I'm use to chatting to them myself. Your ideas and thoughts would be of alot of help please, mindee only attends two days each week, thanks xxx

I've just had a little boy start who has a communication book from his pre-school. They just write a brief note about what he's done in the day, if there are any particular interests he has or any achievements he's done. I've written in it a short reply saying what he normally enjoys doing here and what he spent the time doing today. (he only comes for 3 hours.) i was also passed on some information from the other pre-school he attends so wrote that in the book - I'm kind of writing it for parents and other setting.

I try to write what topic we have been looking at ie this month people who help us, what we've discussed ie to approach a police officer if you are lost, phone 999 in an emergency, talked about what a fire drill is, what we must do, what we must not do. Then a couple of days later we actually did a fire drill so I noted all of his down in Los nursery book so they could see what we are working on and what she knows/understands.
