    Default Number of children

Am I right in believing the maximum I can look after the following at the same time-

    1 under 1
    2 between 1 & school age
    And 3 school age - 8?

This would also include my own children

    That's right.

Just be aware the regulations state 6 under 8.

    So theoretically you could have:

3x2 year olds and 3x5 year olds
2x2 year olds and 4x5 year olds
    6x6 year olds

    xx

Yes, if you are in England, but it is more understandable if it is phrased:-

6 children under the age of 8, of which no more than 3 may be in early years (not attending full-time school, rising 5) and of those 3 no more than one under 1 year.

So as JKL says you can have any combination as long as you keep to the above. This includes your children under 8. As soon as a child has their 8th birthday they come out of ratios but you can still care for them as "extras" as long as they do not compromise the care of younger children
