Advice needed for Mindees Mum
Hi All,
I have a new mindee (2nd week this week) and she's 2 and a half.
When I first met Mum, she confirmed that her DD is fully toilet trained and has no accidents.
However, since day 1 with me, she will ask to go to the toilet, but when we get there her knickers are always wet.
I ask her throughout the day, "do you need the toilet?" But she will say "no thankyou"
I've started to tell her it's toilet time, but she gets upset and won't go.
I only have her 4 hours a day, and she's having accidents 2-3 times a day.
I've told Mum it's probably because this is all new to her being in a different environment and it's a big change.
Mum has told me that she's also now having accidents at home (however she is dry throughout the night) - and wants my advice whether she should put her back in pull-ups, or would this be taking a step back??
Help please, this is all new to me! Xx

Would this LO be motivated by a sticker on a chart for every successful wee on the loo?

I wouldn't go back, just keep persevering
A sticker chart would be a good idea. Do you have other children who go to the toilet?...if so, make it a routine that she goes when/after another child goes...so its more of a routine rather than having to do it.
It could be due to the change in routine/new setting etc and its common to go backwards but I would stick to the pants.
Time Out.. The perfect time for thinking about what you're going to destroy next.

Thanks for your advice I'll definitely advise Mum not to put pull-ups back on and I will persevere with it.
Sticker chart sounds good so I'll give that a try
I've got her all day today as a one-off, and so far so good! We've been to the toilet 3 times with no accidents, so fingers crossed xx

I think it could be down to starting a new setting like you said. My DD never had any toilet accidents until her first few days at nursery when she was almost four, and then another one in her first week of Reception. I think the reward chart is a good idea and also have a teddy who needs the loo. If he goes to the loo give him a big cheer and a clap and let mindee choose a sticker for him. x

Thanks Maza. Good idea about the teddy. We have a Build-a-bear that she loves, so I'll give that a try xx
