Cool ELC toys - why do the doors always fall off?

Is it just me who's got heavy handed mindees, or do others find that doors on ElC toys are always falling off?

We have several houses, a castle, a toadstool house etc and the doors come off as soon as mindees open them. I'm forever hunting round for them & fitting them back on.
Yesterday they played with the shape sorter bus for the first time. The door was a bit stiff to start with, but by the end of the day, it fell of at the slightest touch.

I often look for these toys at carboot sales, on Ebay and in charity shops and judging by the numbers that are sold with missing doors, I guess it's a common problem

Ha ha ha! I got so fed up putting the doors back on (and my hubby's annoying Italian Job jokes!) that I now have a drawer full of doors from various Happyland toys - plus the blinking ladder from the farm!

My little boy has got the rocket for his birthday next month so I will probably be having the same problems soon! I am sure I remember my daughters doors always kept falling off the house and the shop they had.

The happyland town only has to be out for a matter of minutes and all the doors are off. I just pop the doors away now.

I have had loads of ELC toys (bought direct from the store) we had a fire truck once and the wheels broke. We were in ELC one day and just mentioned it, not for any gain, but was just talking to the assistant and she was horrified and said "Oh my god, bring it back, we wil swap it right away for you, our toys shouldn't break like that" so from them on any issues we just went right back (without receiopts) and they swapped them over... no questions asked.

i was told its because children try to take the doors off so its so that they dont break.

but omg im sick of odd doors. the rocket is now doorless, my pet hate is the fireman sam stuff, we have so many jupitors they are all different and my 4 year old always wants them fixing.

The happy land range is awful - most of the doors come off easily. I've given up putting them back on now, just got a box of doors!

Same here - but I recently glued the doors onto the farm and they open, close and have not fell off! was really aprehensive as I could have been heavy handed with the glue and they would have stayed shut, but a little drop in the bottom hinge just raises the doors up slightly and makes them more secure. Next one to do is the fire station, so wish me luck!

I'm off to try the glue trick, I also have a lovely collection of random coloured doors in a draw, one lo is particularly interested in ladders at the mo so I find the farm ladder in all sorts of wierd and wonderful places!!!!
