I've just had a text from a parent saying ' Hi can I pay you this weeks money next week coz I want to go out tomorrow night and can't afford to if I pay you coz I've seen a lovely dress I'd like to get as well'. To say I was gobsmacked is an understatment.

I charge a late fee of £5 a day... see how she'd like that one!

I'd love to know your reply though.

mine would have read...
"No, I'm a business not a charity. If you need a loan please speak with your bank. Late payments encur a £5 daily penalty."
(my parents are used to me being quite striaght talking though)

I'd be tempted to say that too but then they might not pay next week either as then they'll owe 2 weeks money.

Better to call back with a firm NO, I think.

I'd love to say that I'm surprised, but sadly I'm not.

My response would be along the lines Sunflower used. It's firm, but only firmness has any effect on an attitude like this parent.
