    Default alternative to crisps!

I am trying to be good and not eat so much cr**p in the evenings cause I need to loose weight but I dont have the will power to stay away from the crisp cupboard so I thought if i could offer the mindees a crisp alternative then I wouldnt have to buy any and it would probably be better for them too, at the moment for lunch they have
sandwich, fruit, crisps, dessert,,, sandwich is one slice of bread so I guess I could increase it so they have two to help fill them up or I could stick with one then find somthing to swop for the crisps.
    any ideas??

All I could think of was chocolate

How about some of the lower fat 'Baked' crisps or a low fat cereal bar?

you can use potatoes, sweetpotatoes, parsnip, carrot, beetroot.

slice the veg thinly with a veg peeler then wash and dry ( lay out on a teatowel or kitchen roll to dry))

drizzle with a little oil then place in a single layer on a baking tray for a few mins in a hottish oven.

You could swap the kids crisps for the organix ones. Homemade popcorn is good to snack on and keeps the kids entertained while it's popping too!

if it helps you - def. ditch the crisps hon. not the best after school snack for kids anyway (in terms of filling them up on energy etc plus salt/fat).

I'd go with toast, crumpets with cheese and offer fruit also. That way you can snack on the fruit.

In the evening, for you, a handful of roasted or raw nuts are good, like walnuts, monkey nuts etc.
