16 year old mindee leaving

One of my mindees that I have looked after for 16 years is leaving next week. It's been a real pleasure to look after her and I know she will still come round to visit.

I'd like to do something to mark the occasion but I don't know what to and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions please? I don't have many photographs of her so I can't do anything along those lines but I feel I want to do something?

How about buying her a nice piece of jewlery, a locket or something, I'm sure at the age of 16 she'll appreciate it.

I think you know her best... but I would buy her present some diary may be and bake big cake

16 years ... she is prob. like your doughter...

I did a tea party for my eldest when he left me age 12 and invited all aprents to join in too.

I sent him home with a photo of him with all the children in my care at that time, his scrapbook and a £10.00 to put towards his football team membership.

yep I went over the top but his brother will leave me in july so will do it all again only instead of money towards football he has already stated if I'm going to do the same as I did can he have the money towards a nice watch (cheeky lol) which ofcourse he can, i did it for his brother i'll do t for him too.

the next one to leave wont be for 3 years thats if they stay with me ofcourse.

Do a sweet 16 party lots of pink girly things, and buy her a little momento like a necklace or bracelet.

ask her for a reference too for your files , make her feel like an adult

Thank you for all the lovely suggestions

After discussing this with mum I have decided to bake her a cake because for the past few years she has baked me one on my birthday so I would like to do the same for her.

She doesn't wear jewellery and as she won't be coming next week apart from to knock on my door to say goodbye it would be difficult to arrange a party because of her studying.
