Default Have you noticed any changes...

Have you noticed any changes in the children who have been off for months?

The biggest change I've noticed is in the children who have no siblings at home - they seem to have completely forgotten how to share! Two of my mindees are only children and the others all have older siblings. Those with older brothers and sisters seem to be enjoying doing their own thing and not having someone bossing them about, but the only children have struggled to get used to having other children to share with.

I'm planning lots of 'taking turns' activities

I'm finding that all of them are requiring a bit more adult interaction in their play or are just following me around aimlessly!

Another thing I've found - they've all forgotten how to drink water!

Normally they would all drink water here. I'd fill their water bottles in the morning and top them up throughout the day. Apart from milk at morning snack and maybe a sneaky hot chocolate in the winter, it's pretty much all they'd drink.

In a few short months, all that good work has been undone and now they all want squash or juice

Climbing on the sofa is another!

Pre-lockdown children knew they could sit on the sofa as long as they kept their feet off it. Now I have one who either stands on the sofa, jumps on it or does a headstand up the back of it (I suppose his feet aren't on it!)

I give one water and he calls it juice!

I am having to encourage them to drink though!
