Default DBS Do we need to be on update service?

I know it has been discussed many times before...

I have been on the update service for a while now. However, I got a new debit card and so the £13 payment didn't go through this time. Ofsted emailed me to let me know and I fully intended on updating my card details for them. With the house move though, it completely slipped my mind and I have now missed the deadline. I will have to begin all over again to apply for a new DBS.

Am I right in thinking that I don't actually need a dbs now? Would I be ok to just leave it?

You do need a DBS. You do not need the update service.
