Teaching vs Playing
Teacher Tom: I Just Need To Play With Them
I love to read Teacher Tom blog posts, he is in the USA but it is all so relevent here too. No Ofsted there but Gov pressures sound similar to here. He speaks a lot of sense and is a refreshing read to remind us they just need to PLAY.

I follow teacher Tom as well I find him inspiring in so many ways.
what do you make of this new Ofsted 'teaching and play' guidance? https://www.gov.uk/government/public...-balancing-act

I think its easy to get bogged down in the semantics.
To my mind children learn through play.
So teaching is as simple as supporting childrens play.
I don't think there needs to be a balance between teaching and play - if we allow children to play by providing the appropriate experiences , resources and activities - they will learn - therefore we have taught.
