    Default Charging for half hours

Can't remember if I've asked this before but if you had a child leaving you at say 5.30 would you charge the half hour (5-5.30) or do you only charge in whole hours?

I charge per every 15mins for pre schoolers but do a minimum daily fee of 8hrs. For after school I charge a set fee for a 3hr session.

    If it was 8 - 5.30 I would charge 9 1/2 hours - if it was 8.30 - 5.30 I would charge 9 hours - I just count up the hours on my fingers!

This is one area where I am not fussy. I will happily charge in 15mins if that is what it is. Some areas I am very fussy in, this one I'm not lol.

I charge in 15 mins so would charge the half hour. As said before if you charge to 6 they may not collect til 6 as they are paying for it.

We usually charge by the hour and for full hours...our Education funding is also received for hours worked and claimed by parents.

You can accept half hours but make sure this is clearly stated in your contract
If you charge £4 ph but the parents want 1/2 hour...say 9am to 12.30pm... you could state the half hour is charged at £3 as you are losing half hour income.

This will be very important when parents access their entitlement...too much flexibility leads to over administration on our part.

I use a computer generated invoice so it works it out to the minute as far as i'm aware.

I just charge for the time they are here - I don't round anything up or down! like someone else said if you charge them the full hour at the end of the day they may not pick up until 6 as they have indeed paid for it!

For some parents I'd charge every single minute I do for them but others I let things slide like I'm doing an extra hour for free for someone tomorrow (my choice, and I'm still working then anyway) seeing as we get on so well and there is good level of give and take between us, others I wouldn't give an inch to x
