I have two children of my own so if I was only allowed 4 more mindee's I don't know how i'd have a liable business. Charging £3.50 per hour and having 16 mindees on my books I just about scrape a decent wage. I reckon if I could only have 4 mindees in one go then I'd probably bring home about 5k a year. Id have to charge £7 per child in order to have anything worth working for.

I'd be better off working a 10hr week in a supermarket instead of 50hrs.
Time Out.. The perfect time for thinking about what you're going to destroy next.

If I remember correctly their link to Pacey is in the advertising stuff...if you google it will clearly say Bluefin work in partnership with pacey. The good thing is that you do not have to be pacey member to get insurance from them

It is good for CMs to know what number of children are covered under our policy...my concern is to do with the OP: the policy was cancelled immediately...that would worry me if an insurer can do so without notice?
also 'accidental damage ' is now standard in most household insurances.

There are many insurers out there but far too many of them are reluctant to insure CMs...I could name a few well known names.
MM is certainly good but they are very expensive...yes they are brokers like Bluefin but not that competitive...is their cover better than others? I don't think so but as said it is what suits each Cm...always read the small print though!

With regards to the LAs restrictions on numbers we can look after it is worth checking because the govt has removed many of the obstacles about 'planning' restrictions.

Blu Fin like to think they are connected to Pacey but they are not at all, (Previously Homeminder) they are a Broker the same as MM. They have always been way too expensive for us. I had car insurance through Blu Fin one year and they were appalling and their behaviour had me in tears and that doesn't happen often. I wasn't the only cm they had treated the same way either. I wouldn't touch them even if they were the cheapest. I would ever trust them as far as I could throw them.

They do as MM cover more than 6 children at one time but you still need to check with your local planning to see if they allow more than 6 before having to have Planning Permission which can take a min of 3 months and several hundreds of pounds to get.

Many of the Planning Restrictions on us are linked to the Deeds on our homes and the conditions in the around what constitutes a Residential property.

Sorry to hear about your problems with Bluefin...the reviews on Pacey Local are very good and obviously some cms are happy with them, others like you will have had problems.
Every year I look at other insurers but so far I have found Bluefin very competitive and returned to them....having car and household insurance with them does give a bit of discount as well.

They are connected to pacey and they have confirmed that only today...but I believe you do not have to be a pacey member to get cover via them
Anyone can contact them on 0113 218 5617 or just google Bluefin/pacey and up they pop!
