I plan to apply to the EY register and the compulsory childcare register as its the same price but should I sign up to the voluntary part too? Bit confused!

the early years register is the Eyfs - the Childcare Register is both the compulsory and voluntary registers ... so you need them all

    Hi mumofone,

I recently queried this and DfE say Early Years reg is for under 5s, childcare register is 5-7s and the voluntary part is for childcare provided to those you don't need to register for ie, 8+.

Hi sarah thank you for your response :-) I'll need to double check but I think the online OFSTED application calls for me to tick seperate boxes for The compulsory and voluntary parts of the childcare register so I assumed they were seperate?

They are separate in that you can chose one or other, but no point- just tick them all. They both make up The Childcare Register.

Aren't there extra requirements for the voluntary part though?

Look at Ofsted fact sheet 'registration not required' and you will find your answers there.....less requirements but still somethings you need to comply with
