    Default Inspection this week!!!

I know my inspection is going to be one day this week, I spent the whole weekend making sure the house and garden are the best they can be. So day one starts will she come today or not? Nervous, but can't wait for it to be over! Watch this space eek...

Good luck if it is but you should have received a call to let you know they are coming without giving you the specific day....this is part of the inspector's pre visit tasks and in the Ofsted Guidance on inspection

Let us know and all fingers crossed

Well it wasn't today :-( so either tomorrow, which I think is doubtful because I only have my nephew (even though the inspector said she may still come then) or Fri when I have an 11 month old and a 2 yr old (it will only be his 2nd session) so now I'm slightly scared as I've only had this combination once before eek!!

It was today! It was a very positive inspection and the inspector was really lovely :-). She was mostly interested in my interactions with LO she spoke a lot about his development and watched as we did an activity (I had planned cornflour and water). We discussed what he had gained from the activity and she looked at his Learning Journey and spoke at length about where he is on relation to the prime areas. She was very happy with how I document this and how I could tell her where he is in each area. She looked at a couple of other LJs too. She liked my daily diaries and the fact that parents comment too. On looking at my portfolio she was impressed with my welcome pack and was happy with my CPD, policies and RAs. So all in all a pleasant inspection and I'm very happy with the outcome for my first graded inspection - I got a strong good, she said I'm working towards outstanding :-).

I am so nervous for when mine comes. I keep revisiting everything and tweaking things because I want it to be perfect, but we all know perfect isn't in the real world.
Like you I am on here double checking everything. Did you do your sef, did she ask about safeguarding and the new changes for Sept?
What is your outside area like?
    Sorry for the million questions.

    Once again congratulations.

Thanks guys x I find this forum an excellent source of support and guidance. Yes she did ask questions re safeguarding and looked at my policy and supporting info. She didn't really mention anything concerning the changes in Sep except that the DM outcomes are not really being used now and they are only looking at the Early Years Outcomes (I've been using the EYO to link to my obs but I have a DM table that I use to highlight progress) I will still continue this method as I can clearly show child's progress :-) my outside area is a work in progress and she could see where I'm going with it and we spoke about what developments I am planning and she was happy with this I do natural activities out there, I have a bug hotel, a mud play area for digging or small world play, we have flowers that have been planted by the children in their own painted pots, we play dens etc and a reading nook in a play tent as well as the usual ride ons etc. as I only had a baby today I wasn't able to demonstrate this but I had photos of the minded children enjoying outside which she liked as supporting evidence. I would suggest if you have older children on inspection day set up the outside to the best you can so she can see the children enjoying it :-) . I had submitted my SEF and that will be used in my report. As for celebrating I'm just gonna have a small glass of wine tonight and a bath lol x tomorrow I ll celebrate properly :-) busy day again tomorrow lol xx
