    Default Slow worm theme week!

We've just found a slow worm in the garden.

It's been attacked by the cat/dog so has a few puncture wounds and has half shed it's tail.

The children are hunting slugs in the garden for it to eat now. I think we might have to take a walk to the pet shop to get a plastic vivarium for it later. Looks like we've found our new pet for a while until he/she is feeling better!

Did you know a slow worm is actually a lizard without legs, I've learnt something new today. They aren't snakes because they have eyelids!

Right on with the slow worm theme! I'm ment to be looking up care sheets for the children.

Here is some pictures of Slither.

He/she is very lively, just tried to dart off under the sofa when I put it on the floor to photograph it!

Slither has already devoured one slug much to the childrens delight!

I'll still be getting my corn snake.........the slow worm has posed as a gentle introduction to snakes (I know it's not a snake!) for all the children.

Funny how these things happen, talked about getting a snake yesterday then today a slow worm thats in need of care turns up!

Ooh that's OK then.. not too anaconderish

Hubby has a phobia about snakes and slitheries... is amazing as his brother is complete opposite, actually rears them!

We've just been and bought a plastic vivarium for him/her, and a little house!

Cost me just over £10 for the pair but have got the reciept to put though my accounts!

When Slither is well enough and the palstic viv is empty I'll have to get my corn snake no point in having an empty viv!

I've decided the corn snake is going to be the "childminding" pet so he can go though my accounts!

I have a corn snake too, we call him 'Mr Tickle'. The mindees absolutely love him although some of my parents are not so keen!! lol

He is only 2 feet long at the moment but growing rapidly. I will post pics once I am able too. They make great pets cos they are very friendly, unless just fed and are pretty low maintenance really once you get the set up right.

Only thing I hate is having to handle dead baby mice to feed him. Lol

The slow worm will defo be a great intro for your mindees .
