do u charge for days off for hospital appt?
my contracts state any days not booked off 4 weeks in advance will be charged for. I charge half fees if given notice.
New baby has hospital appt july 4th, mummy only got letter last week. I feel bad charging full fee for this

I would make an exception for appts due to dr, dentist or hosp as these appointments you want as soon s possible and not have a 4 week wait.

I might make an exception too and just charge half this time.
Unlike QC I wouldn't do it for doctors / dentist etc though . Doctors appointments are usually when theyre poorly , so they shouldn't be with you anyway , and I presume you still charge for sickness.

yes i will only do it for hospital appts as it's rare that letters are sent to parents 4 weeks before appt. I will charge half and explain to mummy it is only for this hospital appt

Has mum queried it, or is it you thinking ahead? She might be expecting to pay as normal, so don't lose out on money if you don't need to.

I would! As a parent I would expect to pay it.

I personally would expect to pay it, from my view you're available to work but I'm taking my child out for an appointment.
However what I may be likely to do is see how much time I can get off work. If I would have to go in after the appointment I would want to know I could drop my LO with you wherever you may be.

My parents pay full fee if they take holiday or a day off. I am not a charity I can't fill the odd space here and there. It would never occur to me to reduce their fee if it was an appointment of some kind.

Gosh I do. Contracted hours are paid for. Parents choice if the pick up early. gain I am not a Charity and I would go broke if I refunded all the hours parents collected early!!!

I agree. If you don't charge this time it blurs the lines of any future appointments being paid or not

I charge unless I am unavailable to work. It wouldn't occur to me to offer a refund.
