Default need a rant.... & advise

Mum arrives this morning with brothers, littlest one still in pjs..... He was sent home from school poorly yesterday, can here stay here for the day?!

Had to politely explain that if hes too poorly for school hes too poorly for here, plus i have other los today too.
Mum seemed quite put out & said she now has to drive 20 mins to nans to leave him there.

This is the same lo who had a tantrum & attacked me last week.

Then on way to school big brother says "in getting a new childminder" i just said oh that's nice, not thinking too much of it, he then says "yeah i heard mummy telling x last night"

Do I mention to mum? Worried she will just spring it in me as she pays weekly & has changed days needed on short notice a couple of times.

Mind you I'm also thinking good luck finding someone who will put up with behaviour & be as lenient as I have with t&c's to help her out......

I think i would have to ask. What notice period do you have in your contracts? Maybe ask her for a contract review? is there any way you have one due?

I would just mention to mum child said something today about maybe getting a new childminder and just say my termination notice is blah blah if you do decided you want to leave. It happened to me before and I asked the parent and it turned out nothing to do with me but was talking about childcare with another parent who was looking for someone. so always worth saying something as children do over hear things and get them wrong.

I have a 4 week notice period, but as she pays weekly just worried about actually getting it.

We are coming up for 6 months now so could do a review.

Thing is as with most of us I don't earn that much anyway & have been trying to fill another schoolie space for 3 months, cant really afford for them to go

Is she the sort of mum that would have a go at the older child for saying something if she is l wouldn't say anything, go on the contract review with a "just need to check nothing has changed and don't forget 4 weeks notice for ending contract and holiday notice".

Out of the mouths of babes!

I'd have to mention something, a review is a good way to do it. Good luck

i would ask her outright. i had a parent who knocked at another minders house enquiring about prices and spaces, childminder just happened to be a friend and told me so i asked mother outright was she looking for someone else because if she was she could give me correct notice from then! she was embarrassed to say the least and said no was just finding out how much people charge i did have to laugh as she was a pennypincher and the minder she asked was more expensive!!

I asked mum & she says she told them she would have to get a new childminder if their behaviour didn't improve - this is the lo who had a meltdown and attacked me

She said they must have took it as they were getting a new minder or they just weren't listening!

You missed an opportunity there Rickers!!

You should have agreed with mum and said "yes I think you are right - time to get a new childminder - good luck" and hand in your notice. or have they shaped up?
