Posters/Displays for children

Hi all

I'm intrigued to know what others have in the way of posters/displays for children. I have the usual shapes, numbers and alphabet and weather chart etc -all the usual basic ones but want a complete revamp. So just wondering what posters does everyone else have? Or Displays for the children.

I currently have a small poster Mr tumble waving and signing hello. On my big pin board I have assorted photos of the children and postcards from places we've visited. ( plus small coel poster and planning etc)
Other pin board has a collection of children's art ... generally one per child and it gets changed as they produce more work!
So no alphabet or number posters for me! I do have the alphabet and numbers on my blackboard.

I don't have any posters any more. They never got looked at by the children , just became 'wallpaper'. I also read some research suggesting plainer walls were a better learning environment..
We have displays though...based around our theme , or a book.....they build up with childrens work , books related to the theme , relevant toys / items , ...displays are interactive and the children help them 'grow'...that way they mean something to us and they hold the childrens interest...this pic was of a display we were building up when we were looking at healthy eating. Lots of other chldrens work got added as time went by...WP_000705.jpg

I stopped using posters years ago. My under 3s which are my usual age group can't read them anyway and I don't want the walls of my home covered. I have a cork board in the playroom with things the children have made and in the hall I have two large multi photo frames with pictures of the children doing things and I put up leaflets for the parents about places we have been.

I have two lovely prints up in the playroom, one was given to me by my grandparents when I was 3, so many years ago I have forgotten! It is of an animal hospital in a wood. Three years ago I spotted a print by the same artist, Margaret Tarrant, called 'The School Room' also set in a wood with the same characters so I bought it and have that up too.

Nothing at all in the house. I used to have a childrens world map in the kitchen but it was torn and not replaced.

I have quite a bit the garden, though, pictured of the veggies we are growing alongside the relevant bed for example. Pictures of mini beasts and wildflowers in the nature area etc.

All your responses have made my decision easier. I won't be having posters in the house at all. I will use a magnetic board / frames in the Hallway for greetings, children pictures and planning info.

I am in the process of building an outside Summer House, so will put a display board in there and decorate that and the garden with a few bits.

I too don't want posters all over the walls.

I don't have a playroom so I don't want posters everywhere but I do have some laminated coloured sheets!2014-02-16 16.24.18.jpg made from sweet wrappers! I can remove them or change them anytime!

If you had young children of your own and wasn't childminding would you put up posters all over your walls? My playroom looks like a nursery (and toys R us!)and I only have a big display board on my chimney breast no posters anywhere else and would I have had that when my grown up children were young---- No

Love the outdoor one. Well, like them all but particularly like having displays and things outside - any more outdoor ideas??
