    Default how many hours?

Is there a legal amount of hours that you're allowed to mind a child for?

    Thanks

    Good question.

I've known of childminders looking after children for a week at a time when parents have worked away, so I wonder if there is a maximum amount of time.

My sister is a fire fighter single parent and wants to appeal to her work as they are refusing to let her do part time hours (I.e 2 days) but needs some evidence to prove that the hours are too much.

She doesn't get back until gone 10pm and it's really having a huge impact on my nephew as hes being past from pillar to post and not going to sleep until 1am some nights.

That's awful. I thought there were rules about parents being allowed part time hours if they needed them?

ON a practical level, couldn't she get a babysitter to put him to bed & stay until she gets home? It must be really hard for them both

Don't remember seeing any maximum hours listed anywhere - sometimes childminders have child all day and then overnight too. Could your sister get a babysitter to collect your nephew from a childminders and take him home for the evening?
