Default One for the Scottish contingent!

Re over 8s - anyone know why unlike England we have to include any over 8s in our numbers?

My reg is for 4 at any one time - under the age of 16.

It further cuts down our earning opportunities!!

No idea why things are different here. I'm the same as you though - registered for 4 under the age of 16.

I did not realise that it was different. I knew Wales had some rules that were not the same. But this is a BIG difference because as you say it cuts down your earnings. Ask your MP is it the children that are different in Scotland or are the Childminders different?

Wales has different standards and stuff but we still have similar numbers to England

6 under 8, of which no more than 3 under 5, of which no more than 2 under 18 months.

Makes it easier to have 2 babies

Oh and when they start full-time school they become "5" for the whole year cos we don't have EYFS too

It means I have to turn down any school age enquiries really as I cannot lose the chance of a daytime place for just an hour or two.

It seems very unfair on us Scots as it REALLY limits the amount of money we can earn. Also means for the parents they will struggle to find anyone who can actually care for their children!

I must ask my DO next time I see her why it is so different.

Im allowed 6 under the age of 16 years but only 3 under 5 years . I agree though that UK should have a general standard that way there would be no confusion over numbers as we would all be under the same guidelines

Yep, I'm allowed 7 under 16 years but that includes dd who is 15 and my 2 ds. 3 under 5, which only leaves me with 1 after school place

Saves us working too hard I suppose
