Default Mindee's birthday falls on a contracted day

And I can bet you know what I'm going to ask don't you????

Parents mentioned it last week, almost as if they expected me to mentally take it one board that she would not be attending on her birthday.

My payment policy states that all contracted days must be paid for in full (although it specifically mentions in the case of illness and not a child's birthday).
I am however delighted that they are spending the day with her.

    Hmmm what would you do?

Does it only mention illness on your contract?

Mine says that full fees are due if the child is off. It covers illness, holiday, occassional days off.

If your's specifically says full fee for illness I'm not sure where you stand. Check all your wording carefully & see exactly what it says.

I would charge for the day anyway and hope they don't query it. If they do, explain that full fee is due anytime you are available to work & the child doesn't attend.

But, like you say, it's lovely that they are taking the day off to be with mindee. 3 of my mindees have had birthdays recently & come to me for the days as usual. They all had a lovely time, but I always think it's a bit sad when parents don't spend their birthday with them.

I would charge. I always give a card and pressie but I also charge if its a contracted day and they dont attend. I must admit I have never even thought about not charging.

Yep just checked her contract (NCMA) states parent/child illness as well as occasional days off.

    Sorted!

Most of my mindees still come if it their birthday, so it is lovely that your mindee will share the day with parents but not at your expense, it is their choice. My parents have the option of giving 4 weeks notice and then only paying half fee for holidays or odd days off.

Charge! I have booked DD's birthday off for the last couple of years and there is no way I would/could dream of charging in that situation, so why should you not charge in your situation?

I always charge if they dont attend on a contracted day for whatever reason, and to be honest they have one birthday a year, if it falls on a contracted day and the parent could take the day off i dont even give it a thought that i woudnt be paid!

i would charge. its up to them not to send the child and I am sure they were aware of your terms and conditions before they put their name to paper?

if you start giving a day free because its child's birthday, then its going to be well its mum's birthday.... and nanna's birthday and great uncle's birthday... you could be severely out of pocket. Give an inch and a mile will be taken

You have to charge otherwise you would have to not charge for every mindee who didnt come because it was their birthday. Sometimes we have to make sure we have our buisiness head on
